In just two years, the National Libertarian Party has become the right-wing party with the most members in Chile, slightly exceeding 50,000. Its leader, Johannes Kaiser, found a niche on the extreme flank of President José Antonio Kast’s Republican Party. He broke away from the party during the 2023 constitutional referendum, opposing his faction’s negotiation with the left-wing administration of then-President Gabriel Boric (2022-2026).
